HSA/FSA Eligible: What OPTAVIA’s Eligibility Means for Metabolic Health Support

Access matters when it comes to metabolic health. And that access has expanded.

OPTAVIA’s comprehensive metabolic health system is eligible for HSA/FSA eligible reimbursement. Clients must work with their medical provider and insurance administrator to determine eligibility, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Clients may be able to use pre-tax medical funds toward program costs. By using pre-tax dollars you’ve already set aside, you could potentially save up to 40% on your program costs.

This isn’t just about saving money; it’s about removing barriers so you can focus on what really matters — your metabolic health.

Understanding the Basics: HSA vs. FSA

If you’ve ever asked what is FSA and HSA, here’s the simple breakdown.

A Health Savings Account (HSA) and a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allow individuals to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualified medical expenses. When something is labeled HSA or FSA eligible, it means those funds may be used to cover approved health-related costs, depending on plan guidelines.

  • HSA: You can only open an HSA if you have a high-deductible health insurance plan. The beauty of an HSA is that the money rolls over year after year. It’s yours to keep, and it grows with you — even if you change jobs or retire.

  • FSA: FSAs are typically provided by your employer. The money you contribute can be used for a wide range of medical expenses. However, FSAs are “use it or lose it,” meaning the money generally must be used within the plan year or you risk forfeiting what’s left.

The bottom line: Both accounts hold pre-tax money that is meant to keep you healthy. And thanks to our focus on improving metabolic health, your OPTAVIA plan can be part of that equation.

What Does HSA Eligible Mean?

An HSA eligible expense is one your plan administrator allows to be reimbursed using HSA funds. Some individuals pay directly using an HSA/FSA card, while others submit expenses for reimbursement after payment.

Eligibility rules vary by your HSA/FSA coverage, which is why it’s important to confirm what qualifies under your specific coverage.

HSA/FSA Eligibility and OPTAVIA

OPTAVIA’s comprehensive metabolic health system is eligible for reimbursement through HSA/FSA plans. It just takes a few simple steps.

To seek reimbursement, you'll need to submit a claim to your HSA or FSA administrator. This typically includes:

  • Order receipts

  • A Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed health care provider

Important note: Direct payment using an HSA/FSA card is not available for this program. Reimbursement is handled after purchase and is subject to plan approval.

Because eligibility requirements can vary, clients will need to check directly with their HSA or FSA administrator.

Making Metabolic Health Easier to Access

Expanding HSA/FSA eligibility helps remove a common barrier and gives people more flexibility in how they pay for the support they’re looking for.

We know that prioritizing your health is a commitment. It takes time, energy and resources. Eligible expenses may be reimbursed with pre-tax funds; this makes it easier to get started with a structured approach — backed by nutrition, habits and coach support — without adding financial friction.

You're investing in a healthier, more vibrant future. Now, your pre-tax dollars can help pave the way.
